WATR is proud to be supporting Anglian Water’s environmental management programme at the renowned Taverham Mill Nature Reserve and Fishery through the deployment of its advanced real-time water monitoring technology.

Using a WATR bankside monitoring unit equipped with Chlorophyll, pH, and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) sensors, Anglian Water is continuously monitoring water quality conditions associated with harmful Blue-Green Algae (BGA) blooms. In some previous years a lake at Taverham Mill has experienced BGA outbreaks during the summer months, making proactive monitoring essential for protecting both the ecosystem and recreational users of the site.

The WATR system provides continuous, real-time data collection and analysis, enabling operators to identify changing conditions and implement interventions at critical moments. Automated alerts and notifications operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, immediately notifying site managers whenever predefined thresholds are exceeded.

In addition to monitoring algae-related indicators, the WATR platform is also being used to assess the effectiveness of the EM Fluids water remediation system. EM Fluids’ proprietary solar-powered technology uses ultra-low electrical stimulation to improve oxygenation and support the natural breakdown of sludge within lakes and water bodies, without the need for chemicals or mechanical aeration.

One of the key performance indicators being monitored is the long-term stability of pH levels throughout the six-month summer period. The continuous data generated by the WATR platform provides valuable insight into the ongoing effectiveness of the remediation programme and supports evidence-based environmental management decisions.

The WATR equipment is excellent; we can see the real-time data parameters and are able to respond instantly to any fluctuations. The alerts and notifications ensure that we can respond immediately when incidents are triggered.
